Aeolian Town Hall was completed in 1884 as the Town Hall for East London.  Its construction contributed to the financial woes of London East which amalgamated with the City of London in 1885.  It housed fire Station No.2 until 1947.

During its early years, outdoor concerts and plays were held in the evenings on stages and in tents behind the building.  After 1900 the Hall continued to be used for variety shows and dances.  In 1968 the Hall was purchased by Gordon D. Jeffrey and refurbished into a concert hall.  The hall was sold in 2004 to Clark Bryan, concert pianist, who is continuing the tradition of presenting arts related events at the hall.  Aeolian Hall is one of the finest acoustical settings in London and is the home of both the Youth Orchestra and the Community Orchestra.  It also houses the offices and teaching facility of The Aeolian School of Music.
