Forgivable Façade Improvement Loan Program
What is it?
- A City of London program that assists property owners in the Old East Village Commercial Corridor Revitalization area to improve the street front façade of buildings occupied with a targeted or non-targeted ground floor use.
- Qualifying property owners may be eligible for a ten-year, interest-free loan up to a maximum of $25,000 or half (50%) of the value of the eligible street front façade improvements proposed.
- Loans may be increased by an additional $5,000 if the design details are consistent with the City’s Facility Accessibility Design Standards.
- Loans may by increased by an additional $5,000 if the property is designated under Part IV of the Ontario Heritage Act.
Eligible Forgivable Façade Improvements may include:
- Repainting
- Repointing masonry or brick
- Window replacement, repair and restoration
- Removal of inappropriate signage or cladding
- Professional fees
- Installation of new signage, canopies, awnings and lighting
