Forgivable Upgrade to Building Code Loan Program:
What is it?
- A City of London program that assists property owners in the Old East Village Commercial Corridor Revitalization area with interior improvements that relate to Fire and Building Code requirements where the building is occupied with a targeted or non-targeted ground floor use.
- Qualifying property owners may be eligible for a ten-year, interest-free loan up to a maximum of $50,000 or half (50%) of the value of the eligible improvements proposed.
Eligible Building Code Upgrades may include:
- Installation or alteration of fire protection systems
- Extension of plumbing and electrical services
- Reinforcement of floors, walls or ceilings
- Required improvements to ventilation systems
- Improvements for barrier-free accessibility
- Roofing upgrades
- Professional fees
