Yemi Osaloun, owner of Adex Beauty Salon is celebrating twenty-six years of operating in Old East Village and a recent move to a new location nearby at #101-637 Dundas. “When I started, I had one chair and one table. It’s amazing to see us move here,” states Yemi.

Adex Beauty Salon specializes in unisex natural and colour-treated haircuts, relaxer, Jerry Curl, quality braiding, weaves, perms, highlights, and extensions. The salon also offers hair restoring treatment and anti-frizz treatments, and face waxes for a relaxing and refreshing treatment for clients. Additionally, Adex Beauty Salon does hair styling for special occasions such as weddings, engagements, and graduations to ensure that you feel confident and look great on your special day. Along with a large range of hair care products, beauty supplies, and wigs, Adex Beauty Salon carries accessories such as handbags and sunglasses to complete your new look.

Yemi describes the reason for her success as staying humble and treating people with respect. She explains that when you're honest and you respect people, people will come back. As she says, “You have to treat people as you’d like to be treated. Your attitude and your body language reflect you. I make sure people feel welcome and feel like part of the family.” Yemi says it’s important to be hardworking and accommodate people, even when they come in at the last minute. Although kindness is key, she explains how it’s equally important to be diplomatic, sometimes saying “yes is yes and no is no,” is necessary.

Yemi accentuates how it’s important to stay humble. She explains the necessity to be content with what you have and work within your means. “You can’t have five dollars and then buy something for eight. You can’t be comparing yourself to others and thinking what if I had this kind of store. You have to be content with what you have.” As well, she said that religion has been important to her to keep her grounded and faithful.
