Expression of Interest -
Old East Village BIA Mural Project

The Old East Village Business Improvement Area (OEV BIA) is seeking local artists to submit an Expression of Interest (EOI) for the creation of a new public mural in our district.

The OEV BIA has a proud history of showcasing the creativity and talent of local artists through public art projects that reflect the unique character, culture, and community spirit of Old East Village. This upcoming mural will be a continuation of that tradition - adding vibrancy, telling stories, and contributing to our district’s ongoing revitalization.

Project Overview

  • Location: A highly visible exterior wall within the OEV BIA district (final location to be confirmed)

  • Theme: To celebrate the heritage, diversity, and creativity of Old East Village

  • Timeline: Installation to be completed in 2025 (exact schedule to be confirmed with selected artist)

  • Budget: Project funding is available to cover artist fees, materials, and installation
     

Eligibility

  • Open to professional and emerging artists residing in London and the surrounding area

  • Artists with previous mural experience are preferred, but all applicants with a strong artistic portfolio are encouraged to apply

  • Individual artists or collaborative teams welcome
     

Submission Requirements

  • Artist Statement: A brief introduction about yourself and your artistic practice (maximum 300 words)

  • Portfolio: Up to 5 examples of previous work, with at least one example of large-scale artwork or mural (if applicable)

  • Concept Summary:  A short written description of your initial vision or approach for this mural (no final designs required at this stage)

  • Resume/CV: Including relevant experience, exhibitions, and past public art projects
     

Selection Process

All submissions will be reviewed by a selection panel composed of OEV BIA representatives and community stakeholders. Shortlisted artists may be invited to submit a more detailed proposal and design concept.

Late submissions will not be considered.
 

Important Notes​

  • This EOI process is intended to ensure fairness, transparency, and community involvement in artist selection.

  • Final mural design and location will be determined in collaboration with the selected artist and property owner.

  • The OEV BIA reserves the right not to proceed with the project if submissions do not meet the desired criteria.
