Only in OEV Fridays returns on September 22nd! Join us from 5-9pm at the Russell Hendrix parking lot (812 Dundas St) for a FREE community event, including live music, local vendors, food and drinks, giveaways, and more. Read on for more details.
The best thing about Only in OEV Fridays is that no two events are the same! In August, we hosted a street festival on Rectory Street in partnership with the Aeolian Jazz & Musical Arts Festival. It was a fantastic evening of community fun set to live jazz tunes. Check out the August event video below!
In September, we’re changing things up with a different venue and an emphasis on both up-and-coming and established local musicians. The lineup covers a broad range of musical genres, so there’s something for every music fan. Forest City singer-songwriter Eleanor will share her unique blend of R&B, indie rock, and soul, and local DJ Jesse Lectric will get you dancing with crowd-pleasing tunes.
Headlining the night is OMBIIGIZI, a musical collaboration between Anishnaabe artists Adam Sturgeon from Status/Non-Status and Daniel Monkman from Zoon. Their indie-rock and alternative music uses storytelling as a healing tool to approach cultural and family histories. Their debut album, Sewn Back Together, was released last year. We’re excited to host so many talented local artists on our stage!
Beyond the music, the event will assemble a unique collection of local vendors! Discover London artists, such as Rain Bloodworth, and artisans like Sisters Earth Blends. The Bookmobile by Brown & Dickson is bringing their browsable bookstore on wheels, while Odyssey Records & Cinema will have an array of records and CDs to suit the evening’s musical emphasis. Other vendors, like Re-Petit and Terracottabebe, curate the cutest items for kids. Make sure to visit the London Children’s Museum booth for a family-friendly interactive activity!
Of course, it wouldn’t be an event without food! Grab fresh coffee and homemade donuts from DoughEV’s booth to enjoy while you soak up the music. If you’re feeling hungry, Lady J’s Pies n Patties will be cooking up delicious dishes, including roasted corn, samosas, and more. The Only in OEV Fridays beer garden will also be returning! It will feature beverages from popular stops in our Libation District.
More vendors will be announced on our social media as the event approaches! Space is limited, but the vendor application form remains open for local artists and vendors interested in joining.
