PURPOSE
Following two years COVID-related cancellations as well as major construction on Dundas in Old East Village, we’re looking to bring more attention and energy back to the neighbourhood through a brand new and exciting event series. If planning, organizing, and executing ways to do this through music, arts, culture, and activities sounds like your forte then read on!
In the long term, the successful applicant will develop positive relationships with key organizations and service bodies such as the City of London, London Arts Council, London Cycle Link, local artists, musicians, and more. Although this is a brief contract, it only takes one event to make a lasting impact, imagine what can be done with four!
THIS POSITION WILL WORK WITH BIA STAFF TO:
Plan and execute a summer event series in Old East Village
Determine strategic deliverables and KPIs for each event and activation
Be the contact for BIA members for any event-related questions or concerns
Develop and execute marketing, communications, and promotions related to events
Liaise with businesses and organizations to ensure optimum participation in events
Liaise with key City of London service bodies to ensure all events and activations are welcoming, inclusive, and safe for all businesses, residents, and visitors
Report on measured challenges and successes for each event and activation
Assist with Construction Dollar redemptions
Other duties as assigned
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE
Graduate of a post-secondary diploma in an applicable field (i.e. marketing, communications, event planning, project management) or relevant experience
Experience in event planning (i.e large and small scale outdoor events) required
Experience working with a diverse range of customers and clients
Ability to create and maintain strong, positive relationships
Experience in innovative and creative thinking
Experience working with a BIA an asset
Experience in working within grant obligations an asset
Knowledge of Adobe Spark or similar design software an asset
Experience in online content creation (i.e. blogs, social media posts and graphics) an asset
ACCOUNTABILITY
This position reports through the BIA Manager to the OEV BIA Board of Directors. This is a part-time, independent contractor position from May 27 - Sept. 16, and pays $25/hour for a total of 425 hours. This position may be extended based on further funding and job performance.
