Learning Skills and Safety at the OEV Bike Rodeo June 10

Updated: Jun 8, 2022

Welcome to Squeaky Wheel Bike Co-Op!

Coming up on June 10, the first Only In OEV Friday will kickoff from 3-8pm along Dundas from Adelaide to Ontario Streets. These events will continue through September and take place on the second Friday of each month. Featured in June will be on-street activities, live mural creation, sidewalk sales, patio activations, live music, and one of the stars of the show, a Bike Rodeo!

What’s a Bike Rodeo you ask? Traditionally, this concept includes a series of stations that teach cycling safety and skills. London Cycle Link (LCL), in partnership with the City of London and the OEV BIA, has created an engaging and educational collection of activities that will do just this, for children and adults. Afterall, there’s no time like the present to learn safety basics, no matter your age!

The Rodeo is set to take place in the parking lot in front of Squeaky Wheel Bike Co-Op at 809 Dundas street starting at 3:30pm (and running to 6:30pm). LCL Executive Director, Molly Miksa told us “it’s going to be really, really fun and people of all ages should come down!”

According to Molly, there will be three stations for children and two for adults which feature sponsors (and prizes) from such OEV businesses at Libro, London Skateboard Co-Op, and Worlds Away. In addition to fun activities, local artist Robin Henry of Antler Press will be on site live screen printing custom designed t-shirts and posters made specifically for the Bike Rodeo! Shirts will be sold for $20 and posters for $10 with all proceeds going directly back into OEV organization Rezonance Printing. Other participants include Big Bike Giveaway, London Environmental Network, free bike parking / valet and more!

Plus, do not miss one of the first Construction Dollar Cash Mobs of the year that will take place at the Rodeo, and is one of five going on throughout the event!

“Everyone is welcome, from the cycling community and beyond, and we’re really excited to be part of the larger OEV event. It’s going to be a great afternoon/evening” Molly said.

So be sure to register yourself or your little ones (or both!) for the Bike Rodeo right here and stay tuned to the Only in OEV Friday Facebook event page for a whole whack of participant and activity announcements over this next week!
